GT40 Style Gurney Chute

Panteras were notorious for cooling problems. Originally Panteras did not have vents in the hood, leaving an entrapment area behind the radiator. The air that could escape was shunted under the car, building a high-pressure area under the car. Since the only escape for the air was underneath the car, only the lower half of the radiator was effective.

We removed the original radiator and added a large, high-efficiency aluminum radiator (designed for racing by Ron Davis) that was built to our specifications. Basically, the radiator's capacity has been doubled. We have two high-volume sucker fans behind the radiator to aid in the airflow. The radiator sits right in the middle of a GT-40 style gurney chute in the hood, providing 100% airflow through the radiator. The air that is exhausted through the gurney chute creates a pocket of high pressure on the top front of the car, adding downforce to the front of the car and providing more stability for steering.
