Processes and systems must be designed with quality controls in place that ensure the accurate completion of data elements. In real life we find that everything is not known up front and this is reflected in business process as well. It is essential for the system to be able to audit itself to alert users of missing, inaccurate or incomplete elements that may keep the data from being useful. Identification of interdependencies of data elements and process steps need to be made and rules for ensuring data integrity and completion must be established.
