NASA has entered into agreement with Efficient Enterprise Engineering, Inc. (Ex3), a Tempe, Arizona based company specializing in advanced internet technologies, to implement an agency wide web-based system focused on the management of safety incident reporting, mishap investigation, and corrective action documentation.
NASA understands the importance of safety throughout it's organization and is taking appropriate steps through the “One NASA” effort to bring world-class safety performance to the entire agency. The Ex3 system is a commercially proven product that will substantially improve NASA's ability to communicate across the agency and enable immediate and responsive actions to improve overall safety performance.
The Ex3 system will serve as the replacement for the Incident Reporting and Information System (IRIS) currently in use at NASA centers. The implementation project will be managed cooperatively by the NASA Assurance Technology Center located at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio and by Ex3.
Using the latest available technologies, the Ex3 system provides a web-based user interface to enable ease of reporting. Immediate digital notifications are distributed substantially enhancing communication between medical and safety groups, NASA centers, and across NASA as a whole. Investigative activity assignments are managed within the system and corrective actions are tracked through completion with full documentation. Flexible graphical and textual reporting features enable NASA personnel to examine collected data in a timely fashion and supports decision making to improve the safety process.
The Ex3 system has been successfully implemented with impressive results in the semiconductor industry, automotive manufacturing, and other industrial organizations. In addition, Ex3 experience within sectors of the Government includes all branches of the US military, and US Department of Energy. |
